Suntera Shelties sits on a 16-acre hilltop about an hour south of Pittsburgh, PA. Our first sheltie joined our family in 1990 and we immediately fell in love with the breed. Clancy, who earned a CD, was followed by our first show prospect. Our dogs share our home with my two teen-agers, Gina and Joe, and my husband Joe. I am a writer by trade and worked as a newspaper reporter for many years and in university public relations. I am a member of the American Shetland Sheepdog Association and the Three Rivers Shetland Sheepdog Club of Greater Pittsburgh.

Since we moved here 12 years ago, we have added dog-friendly features. We have two large dog yards, both of which can be accessed through the house, a separate pen for puppies, and six indoor-outdoor runs.

This indoor area is handy for rainy days and for separating the dogs when necessary. It also houses the grooming area.

The partially covered runs lead to  both dog  yards.

Chasing each other up and down the fence that separates the yards is a favorite sheltie activity!
